Since when did this band get so good?They dropped the spooky,ghoulish,retro-garage shtick for some really solid,simple pop songwriting.Dark synth drones swirl around thick,spacey guitar swells,and some killer Ian Curtis-like crooning has replaced that over-the-top snarls from their past efforts.I remember hearing "She is the new Thing" a few years back,and never thinking twice about this group.This is a serious overhaul for the band,and I hope they keep doing what they are doing.File under psych/pop/goth/rock/nostalgia.TAKE A LISTEN.
